sUAS Drone Training Course
This 5-day training focuses on the use and deployment of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) for surveillance, reconnaissance, and intelligence. Students will learn how to operate small, medium, and large sUAS in various scenarios with inert ordnance in real-time operations against an OPFOR, with real armored vehicles. Students will also be introduced to weapons, kit, and rations used by near-peer forces for differential recognition. Training will be conducted during the day, dusk, and night, to provide more realistic and real-world training. Inert ordnance includes students flying FPV drones armed with RPG warheads into vehicles and dropping either 60mm or 81mm/82mm inert training mortar rounds on designated targets (main battle tanks, armored personnel carriers, structures). Students will be instructed on the thermal detection of vehicles and anti-tank mines along trails and roads. Lastly, students will be tasked with spotting and identifying weapons, armor, and troop strength (partner or hostile) at night, in uniform with NVGs.
Our goal is to train as you fight, so we have students operate in low-light/blackout conditions, possibly adverse weather, and in uniform with kit. We understand that the transport of sensitive items can cause delays and requires approval, so we can provide NVGs, drones, uniforms, and inert weapons to students if needed. We are able to combine this drone course with small arms and armor training as needed. We are flexible and willing to work to fit your training needs.
Students will finish the course with working knowledge on:
- Fly small drones into open hatches and doorways of buildings, rooms, APCs, etc.
- Fly one-way, offensive, mid-size "kamikaze" drones into tanks and APCs on the move.
- Identifying foreign weapons, foreign armor, and personnel for threat assessment.
- Understanding day and night heat signatures for both static and dynamic equipment.
